What is the business?

Daniel’s Kitchen CIC operates from a hotel in Louth, distributing hot meals and food parcels in the community through deliveries by volunteers. The organisation has recently been expanding its operations, further supporting those they help to move into employment and training, offering mentoring services and social prescriptions. They are looking to gain funding in order to launch a number of new initiatives, including one project around helping prisoners to access employment, and another around gardening to help mental health.

How did LORIC help?

  • LORIC provided demographic data on the Louth area, looking at deprivation and need for the services Daniel’s Kitchen offers
  • LORIC produced a report with data relevant to the two projects proposed by Daniel’s Kitchen, offering an analysis of similar work done by others and demonstrating the potential impact of these projects

Plans for the future:

Daniel’s Kitchen plans to submit bids for funding for their proposed projects, using the research offered by LORIC to evidence need for these projects in their applications. They are looking to move premises and will use the Louth area demographic report to help guide their future work, and to inform and add detail to their business plan. The research will also be used to support applications to rent premises, and to pitch for partnerships with other local charitable organisations and businesses.

As a small but expanding CIC, the research provided by LORIC will be invaluable. It will help to bolster our funding applications, as well as giving us an idea of what kind of support is most necessary in our region. It was a breeze working with Eleanor, and saved us so much time and energy which we can now put into the work we do for our community
